NEXTAIR brings together 16 partners from 6 countries, including 4 leading aeronautical industries, 3 innovative SMEs and 9 renowned research organisations. Together, they will develop and demonstrate innovative multi-disciplinary design methodologies, data-fusion techniques, and smart health-assessment tools enabling the digital transformation in aircraft design, manufacturing, and maintenance towards the next climate-neutral aircraft configurations.

 

The French Aerospace Lab

ONERA, the Coordinator of NEXTAIR, is the French national aerospace research centre. It covers all the disciplines and techniques needed to drive progress in aerospace. The Aerodynamic, aero-elastic and aero-acoustic department is coordinating the NEXTAIR proposal. 

Airbus Operation SAS 

AIRBUS is the major aerospace company in Europe developing and manufacturing advanced high-performance commercial transport aircraft. Flight-Physics department is involved in NEXTAIR and will lead activities on small-medium range HARW configuration.

Dassault Aviation 

DAV is a French aerospace company designing and building military aircraft, business jets and space systems. In NEXTAIR, Aerodynamics & Structural Teams will lead Business Jet Team.

Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V. (German Aerospace Center)

DLR is the Federal Republic of Germany’s research centre for aeronautics and space. We conduct research and development activities in the fields of aeronautics, space, energy, transport, security and digitalisation. The German Space Agency at DLR plans and implements the national space programme on behalf of the federal government. Two DLR project management agencies oversee funding programmes and support knowledge transfer.

 

In NEXTAIR, DLR will extend/develop aerostructural design tools and efficient methods that support the decision-making process in aircraft design and will apply them to aircraft configurations acquainted with next generation green technologies.

Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et Automatique 

INRIA is the French national research institute for digital science and technology. INRIA Gamma team has a world-leading expertise in meshing and adaptive meshing technologies for Hi-Fi CFD predictions on complex problems. INRIAs’ Platon project team has core expertise in developing advanced numerical methods and simulations practices, integrating Uncertainty Management.

Technology Research Institut Antoine de Saint Exupery 

IRT is a private technological research institute that accelerates science, technology research and transfer to aeronautics, space and embedded systems industries. The MDO centre of competencies will participate in both the methodological and the applicative WPs.

National Technical University of Athens

NTUA Parallel CFD & Optimisation Units’ research activities are related to developing parallel CFD-based analysis and optimisation methods/software for fluid flows. The same methods have successfully been extended to MDO, UQ and robust design.

Optimad Engineering SRL

OPT is an independent software vendor specialised in scientific computing and data intelligence for virtual product prototyping. Corporate R&D will coordinate the activities around the product development teams responsible for simulation technology and data intelligence.

SAFRAN SA

SAFRAN is an international high-tech group, an equipment supplier in aeronautical and space propulsion, defense, and aeronautical equipment and systems. The Digital Science & Technologies Department deals with CFD, automation and mathematical developments.

University of Cagliari 

UNICA’s Turbomachinery group will contribute to developing a Digital Twin for gas turbine engine components (TC7), leveraging real geometrical data and linking them with automatic meshing and Hi-Fi simulations for aerothermal performance and component life. 

VICOMTECH 

VICOM is an applied research centre located in Spain with a lengthy background in Visual Computing and Digital Twins. VICOM has an extensive background in Digital Twin technology implementation and is the Digital Twin Consortium branch organiser in Spain, leading the activities of this consortium and coordinating industry and academia partners. VICOM has the possibility to suggest and collaborate in standards development related to this domain.

Erdyn Consultants 

ERDYN is a French innovation consultancy, with a long-track report in the set-up and implementation of EU-funded collaborative projects. In NEXTAIR, ERDYN will be in charge of communication activities and will support the management of the project.

FOSS GP 

FOSS is a SME founded by experienced engineers, PhD, focusing on the development and industrial utilisation of gradient- (adjoint) and evolutionary-based optimisation algorithms for CFD and MDO problems, including UQ.

Imperial College of London

ICL Aeronautics Department includes world-leading expertise in computational and theoretical fluid dynamics, data assimilation and UQ for multi-scale and multi-physics problems, computational statistics and various aspects of ML.

Rolls-Royce

RR is a global business providing integrated (jet propulsion) power system for use on land, at sea and in the air. The Aerothermal Design Systems at Innovation Hub Department focuses on producing design systems and associated optimisation tools for aero-engine components.

University of Sheffield

USFD department of interdisciplinary programmes in engineering is an expert in aircraft, fan, compressor and turbine design, tip leakage, parameterisation, shock control and measuring and modelling manufacturing-based defects and uncertainty.
